Ektachrome 2000 will be released soon.Quatre is a band from the San Diego, California area. We're a rock band, but you'll have to put the label on us yourself. For the record, the webmaster here isn't the singer, I'm the bassist (the first member!). InspirationsQuatre's sound comes from a variety of sources, most obviously alt and hard rock bands. Bands like Nirvana & more have a large (and noticeable) impact on our sound. But no good food comes from just one ingredient, right? Other bands like The Pillows (you ever watched FLCL?), Trocadero, Ash, Everclear, Local H, Hum, Blur, Kero Kero Bonito, and many, many others have had an impact on our sound. I guess you'll just have to listen and see. Band NameIt's a stupid story really. I was trying to figure out a name for the band (that wasn't already taken), and I was flipping through my DVD collection trying to find something, anything, and I landed on my Gundam Wing DVDs. I saw character profiles on the back and I started looking at the DVDs looking for something cool, and I saw a character named Quatre. The blonde guy I think. I still haven't watched Gundam Wing past the first episode. There were a few name rejects after that ("Love Letters", "Hate Mail", and others I can't remember), but none of 'em landed as well. Album NameSame story as with the band name, but not the same really. I was trying to figure out a name (I'd come up with some others before, but again, none of them landed well), and I was listening to the album Electra 2000 by Hum. I thought, I love this band, maybe I could make the name a tribute to them somehow. So, I looked up Kodak film stocks (I'm into film.) and Ektachrome was one of them; so Ektachrome 2000 came out. Cassette TapesDo you like the album? Well, it isn't out yet, but when you get your turn to listen to it, if you like it shoot us an e-mail. I'll dub you a completely unique cassette (and I may even pack in a few extra goodies, along with some bonus tracks) free, no charge, you don't gotta pay shipping, nothing, and I'll ship it to you. No shady stuff either. You don't have to do anything, the offer will expire though. Things like that don't last forever. By the way, by completely unique, I mean completely. You rip it and put it on the internet, I couldn't care less, but if I did, I would know exactly who did it. EquipmentHonestly? We just use whatever's cheapest and whatever sounds good; exemplified in the guitar. It's a Squier neck on an $80 blemished body off of Ebay after the previous body was... how do I put it? Destroyed. The guitar amp we use for recording is a small thrifted guitar amp from 2005 bought for $20; it's tiny, but it rocks like hell. The bass guitar was the cheapest one at the music shop, a sunburst Squier jazz bass. And we don't really record like most bands neither. We record into an, I'm pretty sure, 28 year old 8-track digital Roland VS-840. Records onto zip-disks and works pretty damn well. The main microphone, used for recording nearly everything is a Tascam TM-82. The cheapest microphone with a brand I like. $19.99. Great price for a pretty damn good sounding microphone. ContactWanna hear some music? Just wanna talk? Head over to that Contact section. Don't think we're ignoring you if you don't get a response immediately, give it two days, and if we haven't responded shoot us another one! Don't worry, we wanna talk just as much as you do. |
